The stunning Sri Lankan star tortoise is a larger geographical variant of the Indian star tortoise and is found only on the island of Sri Lanka in the semi-arid lowlands consisting mainly of scrubland habitat. Females of this species’ locality have been know to reach lengths of over 12 inches while the males tend to stay around 8-9 inches making them easy to handle. Their docile temperament and social behaviors means they do well in groups, even the males do well together with little to no fighting over resources. This species is more sensitive to their environment than most tortoises, so housing them outdoors in cold temperatures is not advised as they can easily become sick and debilitated. They thrive on heat and sunshine, and do well in humid and dry environments when given the proper retreats and microclimates in their habitats.

This tortoise was produced by our group of Grigus line pure Sri Lankan star tortoises, hatched in July 2023, and was incubated for female.
